Shin Sen Gumi Yakitori and Shabu Shabu - Monterey Park

Posted by Jen Ko at 8:41 PM
I remember going to Shin Sen Gumi when they first opened with my family, but at that time I wasn't really happy with their food. At the time I just didn't really understand why people liked yakitori and I hated it. Now though, I really enjoy yakitori. I was just a rebel.

J with no eyes and looks like me.. Asian. :) lol

Shiso leaf wrapped in pork belly
- I didn't really like the shiso leaf, I just wasn't used to the fragrant.

Beef Tongue
- This was pretty good although sometimes beef tongue can be a bit tough.
Flap meat
- I got flap meat for J and I since he's not a fan of pork.
Thigh with green onion (salt)
-This one was probably one of my favourites.

Thigh with green onion (house sauce)
-I liked this one very much as well.

U.S. Washu beef (7oz.)
- The shabu shabu is better here then other places. The meat is definitely better here then other places although it is a bit more expensive here.

Seared Washu Beef
- Skip this appetizer if necessary because it cost about $9 and only had 5 small pieces of Washu beef(the same beef they use for shabu shabu). It really wasn't worth it.
I forgot to take a picture of the rice.
At other Japanese restaurants they usually make this with chicken but for some reason they made it with beef here.

:) the potato yakitori. J really liked it, they must have used a lot of butter.

Service here is great and I'm still surprised they can just keep yelling Japanese to each other.
